referee VS umpire VS judge
referee------> a person who makes sure that players act according to the rules of a game or sport
a football/soccer referee
主にスポーツの審判。フットボール、サッカー、バスケットなど
umpire -------> a person who controls play and makes sure that players act according to the rules in a sports event (such as a baseball game or a cricket or tennis match)
フランス語語源。試合場で審判員の位置が決められている場合はumpire。選手とともに動き回る場合はreferee
judge--------> a person who decides the winner in a contest or competition / law : a person who has the power to make decisions on cases brought before a court of law
本来は裁判官、判事として使われるが、スポーツの場合 line judge などの際に使われる

賞味期限が切れている・有効期限が切れている-------> The expiration date is past.
この商品は賞味期限が切れている-------> This item is past its expiration date.
この牛乳は期限が切れている------> This milk is past its best before date.

How do you say "訳あり商品（割れている煎餅、カステラの端、形の悪い野菜、賞味期限の近い商品）" in English ? -------> a reduced product ( because of crushed rice cake, the outside edge of Japanese sponge cake, misshapen vegetables, the expiration date is soon. )??
* ネイティブの方がネット上で、訳ありで値引きされた品物のことをa reduced goodと言っているので、reduced でいいと思うのですが、グーグルイメージで見ると、reduced とタグが付いているのはユーロが多いように思います。 ドルは"special", " was $9.00 now $7.00", というものもありました。 ＄圏でお買い物をするときにはチェックしてみてください
